Sabelt 4 Point Seat Harness's

For track use, no car is really complete without a set of harness belts.  Since this is a daily driver I wanted to install a set of belts that were not completely unusable on the street and easy to remove/install when I went to the track.  The Sabelt (Sparco) 4 point belts (also referred as 4 point H belts) uses a Y type of design where the two shoulder belts meet and are secured to the vehicle via one belt. This design also utilizes a buckle system for the rear belt (allows you to easily remove it) and clip mounts for the lap belt

To start this project, I determined that I wanted to use all factory mount points (hence why I chose the H belt design).  This picture shows the transmission tunnel mounting point for the factory belt.  I removed the 10 mm bolt and replaced it with a eye bolt that comes with the Sabelts.  Of course, the Sabelts only come with one eye bolt, I needed two for mounting of the lap belts.  These need to be purchased in kit form and cost about $10 dollars.

This is the outer side of the lap belt mounting point, it has a larger 17 mm bolt (internal threads are the same on all three mount points and the threads match the eye bolts Sparco sells)

The factory bolts have some plastic washers and lock washer, in this picture you can see how I used the plastic washers/lock washers to secure the Sparco eye bolt.  You don't need to use the spacer that is used on the stock mounting bolt.

Another picture of the eye bolt and the lock washer in place.

This is the outer lap belt mount utilizing the eye bolt.  When finished, the factory 3 point belts are still in place and usable for day to day driving.

This is the eye bolt on the transmission tunnel.  The black plastic cover plate can not be removed, you need to either leave it where it is shown or cut it off.

To mount the rear belt, I removed the back seat and mounted the rear belt to the factory 3rd person mounting point.

You can can see the rear belt now and notice the buckle, you can disconnect the harness from here and tuck the remaining belt into the back seat.  Takes about 3 minutes to remove/install the belts

Here are the belts mounted and waiting.

Here you can see how the Sabelts clip onto the eye bolts.  This makes is very easy to install/remove these belts and functionality of the factory 3 point belts is not hindered.

This is the other side of the lap belts showing how the Sabelt is clipped onto the eye bolt.
