I
must like OBX products, as this is the third item I have from them on my
car. Pedal covers are not a
high priority for me and
definitely not worth dropping down $50-80 dollars
on some fake AMG/Brabus covers with stick on emblems.
My other
option was picking up some OE SLK pedal covers, but were still talking
around $50 for those from the local stealership. Keeping my eye on
Ebay, I came across these pedal covers made by OBX. I picked these
up for a mere $20 plus shipping. The set includes a long accelerator
pedal cover, a long brake cover and a dead pedal cover (can't use the dead
pedal cover on the Benz). These are made from aluminum and appear to
be very good quality items.

Here are the original rubber pedal covers on the W201. Still in
good condition for being over 10 years old
To
mount the pedal cover on the accelerator, I lined up the bottom of the
aluminum OBX cover with the bottom of the OE Mercedes accelerator.
At the bottom of the OE Mercedes accelerator, it tapers inwards, so I
lined up the OBX cover right where the taper starts. This keeps the
cover up a little so it does not interfere with the floor mats I use.
You can see the four holes that I drilled. The OBX cover mounts
using four screws and it was simple to line up the cover and drill the
holes.

You can see in this picture how I mounted the pedal cover. Before
you mark and drill your holes, line the pedal cover up and depress the
accelerator pedal all the way down, you want to make sure the cover does
not rub against the carpet of the transmission tunnel.
The
brake cover mounts using the small bracket clips as shown in this picture.
You can also secure the pedal cover with two screws for additional
security. This cover is a good fit for the MB brake but I noticed
that on the right side of the brake pedal there was an additional chunk of
rubber, this caused a problem with mounting the OBX pedal covers, so out
comes the handy razor blade for some trimming!

This is the chunk of rubber I cut off the right rear of the OE brake pedal
cover so the OBX covers would fit, pretty easy. Not sure why this
was there, might of been to keep the drivers foot from getting caught
under the brake pedal.
The
finished product. Tool only about 20 minutes to install. They
feel solid and the little extended part at the bottom of the accelerator
is nice for heal-toe driving (if I only had a manual trans it would be
nice!)
