Going with the 17x7.5" AMG monoblocks and 215/45/17 tires created a
bit of a rubbing problem for this 190E. I cut out the inner fender
lip and did minor other trimming to eliminate the problem. I finally
decided to just flare
the fenders to give these wheels/tires a bit more room. You can see
the device used for this in picture one. I would not recommend this
be tried at home, you can really do some serious damage with this tool if
your not careful. The finished product in pics one and two sort of
give the 190 a 500E look, but not as aggressive. I flared out the
fenders about a inch. There was no need to flare out the rear
since the rubbing back there was
addressed by some minor trimming of the fender lip. Oh, the line
running down the fender is courtesy of
someone who took his key and gouged a nice scratch all the way down the fender and
door. Not as noticeable now since I touched it up with
some paint, but it sure seems noticeable in these pictures.
2002 E430 WHEELS

Since I never
really likely the AMG copies I had, it was time to search for a suitable
replacement. Most aftermarket wheels just don't provide the look I
was after. I had seen these wheels many times on the new E430's and
never gave them much thought till I saw a 190 with the 16" version of
these wheels. I found a company
www.wheelcollision.com
that had a complete set of these in stock (completely
refinished) for a mere $589 plus shipping. I also picked up a set of
the AMG center caps with the chrome MB star off of Ebay for $40.
This is
pretty much how my car looks currently (except the 16 valve flares are now
installed). I am very happy with the look of these wheels. The
17x7.5 37 mm offset was a perfect fit and cleared my 400E brakes with no
problems.
