On Saturday April 15th, I had the opportunity to put the Corvette on the dyno. Even though the Corvette is not really broken in, I just had to see what the car would do.
I managed to get in two good runs. The first netting 307 rwhp and 321.3 lbs of torque. The second run netted 308.1 rwhp and 321.7 lbs of torque. I was hoping for at least 300 rwhp for the baseline stock numbers, and the 308.1 numbers exceeded my expectations. Below are the dyno print outs. Notice the smooth power curve
I also have a few pictures of the Corvette
strapped into the dynojet.
After
finishing with the dyno, I promptly ran home and installed my HallTech Tric
intake. Wow what a difference that intake makes! Might just have to
get back on the dyno to see how much rwhp the Tric gave me. Check out the
Tric install under Perf Mods for more info and pics. 4/22/00 The
Supra TT guys had a group dyno day today, so I went down and joined them.
I wanted to get a dyno run in with the HallTech Tric and nylon maf ends. I
did four runs, three in 4th gear (best) and one in 3rd gear (don't ask). The
Tric & maf ends ended up netting me 17 rwhp and 5.6 lbs of additional
torque. Close to what Jim Hall claims for his system (20.1). I have
added two new dyno charts. Chart one shows today's run by itself, chart
two is an A/B comparison of last weeks dyno run (car all stock) against today's
dyno run (Tric intake & maf ends)

Well we had another dyno day down at Carburetor Connection in
Kirkland, there were even a few C5's that showed up for some testing.
This time around, the only real modification I was testing was
the Borla XR-1 exhaust. From what I had heard, there was no HP to be
gained and some even lost HP! Wow, what a scary thought! The Borla
is just too wicked to pass up on though.
The good news here is that with the addition of the Borla XR-1
exhaust, I gained 8.2 rwhp and 4.8 lbs of torque! My new rwhp is 333.2 and
332 lbs of torque.
These dyno graphs show three different runs. The blue run
was done a couple of months ago and the only mod was the HallTech Tric and MAF
ends. That run netted me 325 rwhp and 327.3 lbs of torque. The
second run in red was done on 7/15 with the Borla. The green run was also
on 7/15 but done later in the day. We went out for a drive and heated the
engine up a bit, hence why the rwhp dropped a little. I also left the dyno
graphs large, they are hard to read when I reduce them.
I also have a QuickTime MOV of one of my dyno
runs, click here to see it.
